Outside of the monthly merch plan for Molly Crabapple, she wanted to release another silkscreened poster just before her birthday. Inspired by a William Yeats quote from the poem “No Second Troy”, Molly created this gorgeous two-colour illustration, which I screenprinted onto 140lb heavyweight paper. It is currently for sale in her online store. PS: I totally set up that store for her *and* it accepts Bitcoins on top of every other currency. You should check it out! There is also a hoodie version up for pre-order as the next Monthly Molly Merch item in case your walls are all filled up with art.
The poster itself is a two-colour 19×25″ print. It’s been photographed on my beautiful new black walls, that I painted with chalkboard paint so they can be drawn on when my roommate and I are bored or doing photoshoots or just generally feel the name for a change without having to take the living room apart. Highly recommend it.
WHY should I blame her that she filled my days
With misery, or that she would of late
Have taught to ignorant men most violent ways,
Or hurled the little streets upon the great,
Had they but courage equal to desire? 5
What could have made her peaceful with a mind
That nobleness made simple as a fire,
With beauty like a tightened bow, a kind
That is not natural in an age like this,
Being high and solitary and most stern? 10
Why, what could she have done being what she is?
Was there another Troy for her to burn?
